Dodge and Economic Development Advisory Committee to Submit Bid for Amazon HQ
With 50,000 potential full-time jobs on the line and $100,000 of local compensation at stake, Orland Park “absolutely has to try for this,” said Trustee Jim Dodge regarding Amazon’s search for an ideal location for their second corporate headquarters.
“Participating in processes like this is important for the village’s future — it brings awareness to all that Orland Park offers,” said Dodge.
In their proposal to the online shopping giant, the committee named sites along the I-80 Corridor and cited the community’s proximity to the company’s Joliet fulfillment center and the proximity of public transportation.
Amazon is looking for metropolitan areas with more than one million people, a stable and business friendly environment, urban or suburban locations able to attract and retain strong technical talent, and communities that think big and creatively when considering real estate options.
